Never Guess Again -- Picky Sticky Review/Giveaway

As a mom I know I love to take a ton of pictures of my girls. Each week or month is a totally new milestone for them and of course we love to document all the amazing events in their life. Well Picky Sticky has made it that much more easier to keep track of Kendall's monthly birthdays!
Created by a mom, Picky Stickys are adhesive monthly decals that can be placed on any onesie or tshirt of your choice. Each sticker is 4" in diameter and is made of (some what) transperant sticky paper.

I love that it ends of looking like an expensive printed onesie that I purchased just for her monthly birthday but of course it doesn't come with a huge pricetag. Picky Stickys are so affordable and if you take them off carefully then I think they could easily be reuseable (just in case you may have another baby later on... you never know!).
We were sent the Girly Girl set to review and I absolutly love them. The hard part is find which shirt I want to put them on.

I really wish I would have discovered Picky Sticky months ago because they even have weekly belly stickers to track your pregnancy belly! The stickers track every 4 weeks starting at 8 weeks along, & the pack also includes a "It's a Girl", "It's a Boy" and a "Surprise?" decal sticker! How cool of an idea is that!?
If you love documenting your child's growth (and who doesn't), or your own pregnancy then Picky Stickys are such a cute idea and I think a great baby shower gift for sure!
Normally $17.95, Picky Sticky is having a sale and each set of 0-12mths is just $14.95!
1 winner can choose what Picky Sticky style they'd like!

Saving the planet.. one onesie at a time! -- Organically Grown Review/Giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 12:03 AM 202 commented
As the awareness of the effect that pesticides and toxins have on the environment and individual health grows, more and more families are realizing the importance of choosing organic products. Making this choice is not only good for our earth; it is good for all of us. With your help, organic textile production will increase, becoming more of a standard in the clothing industry.
If you haven’t already, now is the time to choose organic fabrics for you and your family. Organic cotton has all the high quality, soft and cuddly texture with none of the harsh chemicals to irritate your child’s delicate skin. Our products are not only breathable and cuddly; they are also recyclable, renewable, and biodegradable. With products by ORGANICALLY GROWN, there is no need to compromise between your budget and your conscience. As well as being ECO-FRIENDLY, our clothes are AFFORDABLE and STYLISH.

The folks at Organically Grown makes all their apparel from organic cotton, which is grown by safe, pesticide-free methods from plants that are not genetically modified. It's scary to think about but an estimated 170 million pounds of pesticides, and 25% of the world's insecticides are used in the production of conventional, non-organic cotton. 7 out of 10 of these pesticides are on the EPA's "known" list of "likely" or "probable" carcinogens. These chemicals result in the work-force illnesses, water contamination, and the devastation of farmland! How scary is that?!

First thing I noticed was of course how incredibly soft the onesie I was sent was! Although it's organic I washed it once to see if it would come out feeling the same. It did! So [even though it wasn't worn yet] I through it in the next load of laundry to see if after being washed a couple times what would happen. Well, even softer! Once it was on Kendall I noticed a huge difference in it and her other onesies. Keep in mind that although it's soft and plush feeling, it does not feel thicker then any other onesie (if that makes any sense, lol)

And of course you can't get passed the cutest graphics on the bodysuit!

Organically Grown sell everything from Newborn-Toddler clothes, as well as adult male & female clothing.

You can win an Organically Grown article

How Did I Ever Live Without... -- Bottle Snugglers Review/Giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 4:42 PM 36 commented
Lets see, as a mom what do we have to worry about? Feeding this child, bathing the other child, cooking, cleaning, TRYING to grab a bite to eat for yourself.. and the list goes on, right?
How many times can you not get one of those things done in your day because your precious baby needs your help, especially when it comes to feeding time?

I know as a mom of two I've definitely wished I had a third hand at some point in the past 6 years. Lately when I'm trying to feed Kendall is when Makenna will need something from me and I'll have to say, "hold on, I have to feed sister" or when your at the dinner table and your food is getting cold because you have a screaming baby to feed and in my case I desperatly have to pump but Kendall also needs to be fed.

Well Jennifer Marko is the president of Marko Holdings, Inc. It's a family-owned business based right here in my state of Florida. Her and her family have created a little helping hand for all parents out there.
Bottle Snugglers is a baby bottle holder to help give you time to do all the things you can't really do when it's feeding time for your little one.

You cna choose from 4 cute animals to be your child Snuggler. The cow, a piggy, a bear, and a puppy all have a square area on their backs that the looped bottle holder attaches to. If you have a bigger bottle you can use two loops, and just one loop for a smaller (6-4oz) bottle. The loops have velcro on them that attach to the square are on the animals back so it's always adjustable, which I love. At first glace I thought the looped bottle holder part was attached so I did question how well the Bottle Snugglers would work but again since it's totally adjustable it works great.

We were sent the Cuddly Cow Bottle Snuggler. Daddy's cute thought process... well cows make milk of course so she needs to have a cow helper, lol. The first time we used it was eating out at a restaurant. I dont think we've ever gotten through a whole meal at a restaurant without having to pick up Kendall and/or feed her but with the help of her cow she was perfectly content.
We now NEVER leave the house without Cow (that's how to refer to it, hehe) because you never know when it can come in handy.
While using the Bottle Snugglers it's important to always have parental supervision and it's of course not intended for every feeding. It's definitely not a replacement for a parent and it's always best if you can still hold your baby and let the Snuggler hold the bottle.
Wait, babys grow up and now yor baby isn't a baby anymore, so what do you do with your Bottle Snuggler? Well of course since it's all machine washable I'm sure it's in great shape and you can regift it. But also you can just let you child use their cuddly animal as a toy! Since this little animal has been around them since they were so little I'm sure they will grow very attached to it so even though they dont need the help once they can hold their own bottle, the Bottle Snugglers make a great companion toy.

The Bottle Snugglers is definitely on my Must Have Baby Shower Gifts list!

-- Keep on eye out on the Bottle Snugglers blog sometime in the fall because I'm going to be a guest blogger talking about my favorite must have products for moms with more than one child!

This priceless helping hand (and great baby shower gift) is just $20.95 and in my opinion worth every penny!

Get some help with the animal of your choice!

Back2Blogging -- A Title I'm Proud Of

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 2:11 PM 9 commented
I'm taking part in the "Back to Blogging" events hosted by the SITS girls in an effort to get back into the swing of things all the craziness of summer.

It's day TWO, but if you're interest in participating, there's plenty of time to get involved. Learn how by clicking here. The event is sponsored by Standards of ExcellenceWestar Kitchen and Bath, and Florida Builder Appliances!

Out assignment today was to repost a blog post that had a title I was proud of. This was kinda hard 'cause I dont really think of my titles too much but then...

For Day 3 I chose my post "The World Of Arguing Moms... Why Do We Do It?"
I first posted this back in June. I was (& still am!) so annoyed by all the fighting and stupid arguments going on on Twitter.

We fight about bottle or breast, disposable or cloth diapers, medical or natural birth, crib or co-sleeping...

all the back & forth and the "this way is better" type conversations are getting so old. Why can't we just all accept that we all parent differently, that some things are better for other parents then they are for us.
It's just a strange thing that we do to each other. We should just be supporting each other in this crazy mommy world.

Back2Blogging - I Wish You Read It

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 9:00 AM 0 commented
I'm taking part in the "Back to Blogging" events hosted by the SITS girls in an effort to get back into the swing of things all the craziness of summer.

It's day TWO, but if you're interest in participating, there's plenty of time to get involved. Learn how by clicking here. The event is sponsored by Standards of Excellence, Westar Kitchen and Bath, and Florida Builder Appliances!

Out assignment today was to repost a blog post I wish more people read & why.

I choose "Hard Times of Post Partum"
Post Partum is a very sensitive subject and for some reason not a lot of women want to admit they have it. With my first daughter, Makenna, I didn't do anything about it. I never talked to anyone about it... I just dealt with it.

When Kendall was about 2 weeks old I knew PPD set in once again. This time around I was not going to deal with it on my own. I was taking it out on Makenna and eventually I was taking it out on the hubby and sometimes Kendall.
I spoke to my doctor about it and she put me on Zoloft. I thank God every day that she put me on it. I knew I couldn't do it on my own and it's helped 100%. I'm a completely different person now. Not a "different" person... just ME again. I was not me once Kendall was born and the on set of taking care of two kids, a house and being a wife finally set it.

I think more people should have read my post because maybe they could relate and not be so afraid of PPD themselves. Maybe then they will have the courage to talk to someone. Maybe she will see that someone else out there felt the same way as she does.

Back2Blogging -- Back to the Beginning

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 7:44 PM 1 commented
I'm taking part in the "Back to Blogging" events hosted by the SITS girls in an effort to get back into the swing of things all the craziness of summer.

Today is the first day, so if you're interest in participating, there's plenty of time to get involved. Learn how by clicking here. The event is sponsored by Standards of Excellence, Westar Kitchen and Bath, and Florida Builder Appliances!

Our assignment today was to repost our VERY FIRST blog post, which I titled "My First Post" So here goes! Join in the week of fun with me!

Wow, so here we go, my first post here at Double Duty Mommy! How scary but liberating at the same time.

I've been wanting to create a page like this for some time now. I used to have my very own website before I had my daughter (from 2002-2004) but then of course things got busy after her and I just stopped updating all together and dropped my page from this wild world of the internet.

So to say in the least I'm glad I'm back and I'm hoping I can stick to this.

Yes, I kept it short and simple! :) Now I know there was so much more I could have written but I was just starting out and I just wanted to blog without thinking about what I really wanted to say at that point!

How We're Reducing Our Risk Of SIDS-- Halo SleepSack Swaddle Review & Giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 11:39 AM 312 commented
I think if you ask any parent what their worst fear is, SIDS would be in the top 5 things they mention.
I can tell you first hand that I just stare at Kendall watching her sleep, just so I see her chest moving. Plus, she's cute so who doesn't want to watch a sleeping baby!
Kendall loves to be swaddled. I swear besides mommy & daddy, it's probably one of her favorite things right now. As she's gotten stronger though, she can get out of her swaddle and then the blanket is just loose in her bed. This has scared me 'cause of course there is always the chance that she can pull the blanket over her face and not be able to move it!

We were sent the Halo SleepSack Swaddle from Halo to review. It's what you love from a sleepsack combined with a swaddling so babies arms are inside as well. This eleminates the need for blankets that can potentially harm and smother your baby. Swaddling has become a huge staple in helping baby sleep better and longer because the blanket hugs your baby to prevent the startle reflux.
Babies tend to throw their arms up all the time especially while sleeping and this prevents them getting a good nights sleep. Keeping babies arms down next to them is safe and again, will keep them from waking up if they are startled. On the inside of the Right swaddle strap there is an easy to read instruction panel that can help you use your Halo SleepSack better.

I love that the Halo is made of 100% cotton that helps prevent overheating. It's designed to keep the fabric from getting near baby's face (as you can see in the 1st picture) & it also has adjustable fastener strips so you'll be able to use it for a while with your growing baby.
The swaddle feature is easily removable with hidden velcro straps so if your baby doesn't like swaddling but you still want to keep your baby safe, the Halo SleepSack is 2-1!
The Halo SleepSack is also machine washable and dryable with all colors so there's no extra steps needed when washing. Makes a busy mom's life just that much more simple if you ask me.

Wearable blankets are suggested for use by the American Academy of Pediatrics as a way to help prevent SIDS! And of course... "Back Is Best" as always!
-- Since reviewing the Halo SleepSack we have purchased two more on
our own because Kendall loved it so much! --

Halo sells a variety of the SleepSack starting at around $30
