Build-A-Bear is a great do it yourself store that opens your child's imagination and lets them build their very own bear (or other animal). From start to finish your child has a hand in the creation of their new best friend.
Each bear comes with a plushy heart and a birth certificate so your child can remember this day and always have their memories. For something extra there are tons of clothing & accessory options to choose from.

If you don’t have a workshop close to you either you can go online. You can still pick out your bear or other animal and pick out the clothes. It will be stuffed and filled with a plushy heart at the store and shipped to you with a birth certificate and inside its own house shaped box!

Today (JULY 2nd) Build-A-Bear released a new collection called Ice Cream Bears! There are 4 bears in this limited edition collection to choose from, each bear having their very own plush ice cream cone.

There is the Hot Fudge Sundae Bear, Bubblegum Bear, Orange Sherbet, & Mint Chip Bear.

Makenna instantly wanted the Mint Chip Bear because when she saw the outfits she loved the tutu that went along with the Mint Chip Bear.

Like I was saying, your child gets to have a part in every part of "building" her bear. The first stop is the Stuffing Station where they get to step on the peddle that then stuffs the bear up. Makenna got to choose a heart and before it's placed in the bear you have to make a wish & kiss the heart. Makenna got an extra heart put into hers - an actual beating heart (that only goes off 2-3 times when pressed)!!

Next stop: Fluffing Station! This is where the bear gets "washed" (with air :) ) and your child brushes the bear to get off any extra "dirt". Again there is a peddle that controls the "water" to wash the bear.

After that there is a Dressing Room where your child can pick out an outfit, accessories, & shoes (each sold separately)! Makenna had the Mint Chip Bear so of course she had to choose the shirt & tutu outfit (plus little ice cream panties. yes... panties! lol) that was made for Mint Chip! Daddy had to help dress the bear though because getting the tail and ears into the holes in the clothes can be a bit challenging.

Once your bear is stuffed, fluffed, & dressed it's onto the Naming and Birth Certificate section!

Your child simply puts in their name & birthday (along with a mailing address and email address where mom & dad can get special offers sent). Then the fun part of your child getting to name their new friend & they will then receive an actual birth certificate print out to keep (& hang up in our case).

Makenna chose the name Princess Chloe for her Mint Chip bear! We even got her the Ice Cream Bear backpack carrier that has ice cream w/ sprinkles & a cherry hood plus the cone shaped carrier, so now Makenna is officially a baby bearwearing mommy! lol. I literally laugh every time I look at Makenna's back because the backpack and her bear in it are BEYOND adorable.

The limited edition Ice Cream Bears collection is available from July 2nd - July 18th. 

 We love Build-A Bear so much that my hubby, John, even made a bear for me! It's supposed to resemble him (& of course my bear had to represent the hubbies favorite baseball team!! GO YANKEES!!) so when he's at work I will always have my hubby near me. Once we got home John even sprayed John Bear down with my favorite of his cologne!! "awwwwwwwwwwwww" lol :)
