Bitty Bottoms review & giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 12:48 PM 1403 commented

Our next sponsor not only has a cute name but I am loving their logo. You can find them easily by clicking the logo on my left sidebar also.

Bitty Bottoms is a mom owned business (love it) that was started because of her own stinky experience with disposable diapers. Wanting to change and to save money, her family made the switch!

Now carring more then just cloth diapers, Bitty Bottoms has things for sleep, bath, feeding, leggings and so much more!
When it comes to cloth they carry many types of diapers including newborn and preemie!

You can use their Cloth Diaper Academy pages to find out everything you want to know about cloth and the vocabulary behind it all. Using cloth can be really confusing in the beginning but pages like these help break it all down and break the stress you may be feeling.

Bitty Bottoms has this link called "Break The Mold" curious and clicked and this is what I found. Watch it :)

Bitty Bottoms also features a cloth diaper trail program. For just about .58 cents a day you can try out a variety of brand new cloth for 17 days. Like them? Then keep them! If you don't, just return them, no questions asked, even if they are stained!! You will receive 7 diapers, Rockin' Green laundry detergent and flushable diaper liners!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I wish I knew about ptrograms like this when I first started to use cloth. It's so helpful to find the perfect diaper for your family without spending a ton of money on things you later find out are just not for you. Everyone using cloth differently and it's best to find out first before you have many diapers you just do not use.

So now you might be asking, "If I get new diapers what happens to the ones I return to them?", right? Well Bitty Bottoms turns around and resales them for a discounted price in their SALE section. Of course they are completely washed and ready to go and only the best will be resold.
Bitty Bottoms has offered one DDM winner a 3 pack of their most popular diapers - Happy Heiny, FuzziBunz and Rump-a-Rooz.

I was given the chance to review a Happy Heiny for the first time and the first thing I read was that it can also be used as a swim diaper (without an insert)! It just so happened that we were going to let the girls swim that day so I said, 'hell, let's try it out!'
Our pink hibiscus held up wonderfuly in the pool and event stopped poo (yes, she pooed while in the pool) from escaping. I was a little nervious once I saw her face and knew what she was doing but it actually contained it, even without an insert inside.
After prepping a few times we've used this and it has held up and is making its way to my top 5 favorite diapers.
Our Happy Heiny is so luxuriously soft, plus it is made from custom-milled fleece which means no dioxins, thus reducing rashes.
Pictured is the aplix version of course but I always opt for snaps on my Kendall's diapers. The snaps on the HH is extremely durable and when we first received it I thought I'd rip the snaps off since it was kinda for me to undo them.
There are 2 rows of snaps across the top and 3 rows down the front for your one size adjusting. My number one love about this diaper (and that I wish were on more diapers) is the overlapping snaps on the waist area. I don't know the technical name, hence the picture below, so I call it overlapping snaps, lol. Don't judge me! haha. I love when there are extra snaps on one side so you can overlap the other. This is sometimes very useful for a smaller baby and especially helpful on one size diapers.

Do you see what I mean?? lol. Overlapping snaps! Anyway, all in all, yes I'd have to say we are loving Happy Heiny and of course I love FuzziBunz.
I have yet to try a rump-a-rooz so whoever wins this must tell me how they like them so I can get some!

1 Winner will receive 3 diapers!
(your choice colors for all 3)

Sponsor Spotlight - Pure Modern Baby

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 10:07 AM 1340 commented

Cloth diapering is suppose to be a lot of things and for me, one of them is being fun. Our next sponsor thinks the exact same way and they wants to get the word out that cloth diapering is hip, fun and easy! Yes, EASY!
Cloth diapers have evolved beyond recognition – They are fresh, modern, and are just about as simple as disposables. Most people understand the benefits of cloth diapering (good for your baby, good for the earth, and great for your bank account!) but aren’t sure they can actually do it. Pure Modern Baby is on a mission to prove just how simple it is and help people take the leap.

They are a local business founded on the idea that being eco-conscious can be easy and hip at the same time. They offer some of the best cloth diapers on the market, and are committed to providing education and support along the way. They also carry baby wearing products and organic baby basics (onesies, sleepers, bibs, etc).

To help with all your burning questions Pure Modern Baby has made an All About Cloth page. It's very useful if you still aren't sure what kind of diapers are on the market and where you should start (or continue) this amazing journey.

You can also shop with confidence because PMB offers price matching! How awesome is that?! So not only is this a one stop shop because of the merchandise they carry but they make sure of it since you will be getting the lowest price you can find.

If you're not convinced of how amazing PMB is there's one more thing; they offer a cloth diaper trial package! They also keep it simple - Love it, keep it, if you don't want them just return them! I love that they offer a variety of cloth diaper trials so you can try brand new cloth diapers with absolutely no commitment to keep any or all of them. I think this is a great idea and the fact that they price their trail packages at $1 per day for 30 days is amazing! So are you just starting to cloth diaper or you want to try a new brand but aren't too sure? The packages Pure Modern Baby offers is definitely for you.

1 Winner will receive 2 AppleCheeks Mini Test Kits!!
(Includes 1 cover + 3 one size bamboo inserts! Size 1 or 2, in your choice colors)

Baby Belle Bottoms review & giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 8:56 PM 661 commented

Let's all welcome Baby Belle Bottoms, a great company out of California! Baby Belle Bottoms of course sells cloth diapers but they also offer free workshops in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. VC & SBC residents can post their used diapers that they would like to sale or trade!

They are dedicated to helping families cloth diaper through education, product support and providing timely delivery of high quality cloth diapering products for the past 7 years and will continue to do so.

Offering everything from pocket, AIO, Fitteds, Prefolds and Hybrids you will definitely find something you want/need from Baby Belle Bottoms!
I especially love that they carry one of my favorite brands - FuzziBunz diapers. I've told you about them before and I stand by what I said. With a FuzziBunz One Size you will be able to get a perfect fit no matter the shape or size of your little one. It comes with both waist AND leg casings that include an 8+ button for the legs and a 4+ around the waist. For my 8 month old we are on 3+ for the legs and she's 18.5 lbs. FuzziBunz one size pocket diapers fit babies from 7-30 pounds and are available in 14 bright colors to choose from!

The absorbency on these diapers are incredible and once you get all your prepping done you should be leak free. I've never tried a FuzziBunz for over night but I hear it's a go-to over night diaper for most parents out there. Once you've tried a FuzziBunz you will instantly fall in love with everything about it whether it be how trim the diaper is, how sturdy and strong the snaps are, the color and/or the elastic adjustable leg and waist casing.

1 winner will receive a FuzziBunz OS.

AMP - Review and Giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 8:56 PM 992 commented
We have another wonderful Canadian based sponsor on our hands today that I just can't wait to introduce you to.

At AMP diapers they believe in making cloth diapering easy for everyone. They offer a wide range of environmentally friendly, re-usable cloth diapering systems and accessories. Their innovative designs are easy to use, cost effective and most importantly soft and comfortable for baby!

AMP truly makes a style for everyone; from OS Duo, AI2, Pocket, Stay-Dry, Hemp Fitted, and Flats.
Annie, a mother of 5, created AMP after trying to cloth diaper for years. Once she decided to use cloth full time she found out that nothing on the market was how she liked it. The cloth she owned never washed well, they were never absorbent enough and never quite fit correctly, so that's when she took to her sewing machine!

The AMP Stay-Dry AIO that I received definitely stands by their statement as one of the easiest diapers we've ever used. It has an absorbent core is made of 4 layers of micro-fiber which is also great for quick drying. I'm not really a hook and loop type of mom but I do like that how secure the velcro stayed on and when Kendall is a little older I don't think I'll be having to worry about her easily taking this diaper off.

I like that there is no need for doublers, a cover or even stuffing so it's definitely daddy friendly and this is recently the only diaper John will use on Kendall when he goes for cloth.
I highly recommend this diaper if you have a hesitant user in the family, like my husband, or if you take your baby to a sitter, day care or the grandparents.
The Stay-Dry AIO is a sized diaper and they are pretty true to size when it comes to their chart.

What I can't wait to try is AMP's Original Pocket. It is known as the softest, best fitting pocket diaper on the market. A PUL waterproof outer combines with a super-soft micro fleece inner for a trim fit. Also, there is cotton, AMP hemp inserts or AMP bamboo inserts* and keep your baby dry and leak-free!

1 winner will receive a Pocket diaper + insert
(your choice of the Original or Duo and color)
Tell me what AMP stands for! :)

Breastfeeding Doll? What's Next!

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 10:45 PM 19 commented
I've been wanting to write about this for a while and it's been sitting on my blogger list, taunting me day after day.

I may be a little late on this issue but I found out about a doll last week and it really has been thinking.

When you think of a normal doll in the stores and what said doll should come with in the packaging I'm sure you think, 'bib, diaper, bottle', right?
Released in Spain in 2009 Babe Gluton, or Baby Glutton in English (Fat Baby if you may) is said to promote breastfeeding in young girls/boys. Since bottle fed baby dolls as become an every day thing Babe Gluton was made to incourage nurturing in young girls.
In the box is a "nursing tank" for the little girl to wear, with flower petals over the nipple area. When the baby is placed hear the flowers a censor goes off to make the doll moves its mouth and makes suckling noises!!
The doll is making news again because now named "Breast Milk Baby", is set to hit UK stores soon.

I personally think yes, it's a little weird. Yes, breastfeeding is normal and I'm COMPLETELY for breastfeeding. M always saw me pumping so she knows that's how K got her milk. But I don't think at 5-8 years old girls/boys should be playing with this doll. Some think it will promote early sex and having babies early just so they can breastfeed, others just think it's plain inappropriate. <<---- I do not agree with either of these statements just to clarify. I read that from numerious websites.

I do know I would never let Makenna carry this doll around to her chest though. I think it takes away the innocense of a child and is almost making them grow up too soon. If your child sees you breastfeeding then fine and can be talked about it. They may even see another mommy feeding her baby in public or at a friend's house, fine, again talk about it. But to let them also do it? I don't think it should be done.
Dolls like this make me think, "What's next?" But, what I thought wasn't out is....Did you know there is an actual doll that is anatomically correct! The doll was sold in the United Kingdom for about £40 a few years ago, but appears to be purely an eBay item now.

Step 1. Feed the baby from his special bottle.

Step 2. Let the doll waddle around on his own as it shouts, “Mummy, wee wee!”

Step 3. Watch the doll wave its hand over its crotch as pressure mounts in its plastic bladder.

Step 4. Your daughter pulls down the doll’s pants and lets the doll pee into a toy potty, sitting down… or standing up.

YES, you are seeing that correctly. That is a flaccid plastic penis on a doll!
Check out the small youtube commercial for it!

This doll freaks me the hell out and there is no way in hell I'd ever let my kids play with him!

I just do not like that there are dolls out there like that. Call me neive, I don't care. I'm not sheltering my daughters in any way and when it comes to breastfeeding like I said, my daughter knows about it and how you can pump to get milk out as well. But I'm not going to promote it with a doll, I will talk to her about it and IF she wants to when she's older then she can. I'm also not sheltering her when it comes to education about sex and our body parts. I don't think that not letting her play with these dolls is going to harm her since she's getting the knowledge from me about the world.

All I'm trying to say is can we let kids be kids and stop introducing them to adult things so early.
