clutter overload!

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 12:11 AM
When I got into blogging I was always jealous of people that tweeted about getting an amazing visit from the UPS or Fedex guy on a daily basis. They knew their delivery guys' name and the exact time he'd arrive.
If you would have told me by the middle of 2010 that I'd be one of those people, I would have told you to "BRING IT ON" because at the time I thought it was a only a dream to be the UPS guy's best friend.

Now that I'm one of those people I'm in a bit of a pickle. What to do with all the products I receive!  Place to store everything are going slowly [scratch that] fast!

Most of the products I receive are only used once and that's strictly for the purpose of the review. After that they are donated, given to friends or family, maybeeee re-gifted (I didn't say that! SHH!). But still, even after all that I'm still finding that there are just boxes (oddly shaped ones I might add) all over the place.

I just cannot bring myself to give these products away. Most are great, don't get me wrong, but they are back in their boxes because 1. my girls have out grown them, 2. we just don't have a need for them.

What I would like to get whether I buy it or am able to review it is from L'Occitane. I'd love to get some of their lavender soap and I was also looking through their eau de toilette and saw a citrus summer fragrance that sounds delicious.

I love my job but I sincerely hate clutter. What do I do!?

Does anyone else have this problem? What have you done to declutter your product review overload?

I have this problem too, but it seems to come in waves. Not to mention all the giveaway prizes I win that are shipped too! I try to be as organized as possible & have different "piles" One is a baby/maternity pile for my sister when it's time, or any friends that I'm giving that type of gift too. Another is a toy pile, for when I choose to give winnings to my kids. I have more piles too, but they're all organized in a Marcie type way. :/

I have the same problem too! I am hoping that someday I just might have my own office to fit all my clutter in.

I have this a little bit, but for the most part I use everything I review. I can usually tell prior to pitching a company (or accepting a pitch) if I will use the product regularly, so I only accept products I need. However, occasionally things look great and don't work out as well as they look so they end up laying around. I am trying to get to blogher this august but the conference plus the plane tickets, etc will total 1,500 for me because im in michigan and its in california. So I've been listing the extra stuff on ebay and putting the money into a savings account thats just for blogher. The majority of the stuff sells really well because it's so close to being brand new.

Ebay takes a lot of time and organization though, it can be a hassle. but the cash adds up so to me it's worth it.

I have this problem! Which is why I am being veryyy selective in what I review, just so it doesn't collect dust. Luckily most things we've received we use a lot, and if we don't we give it away, gift it, or something. I wouldn't feel "right" selling something that I received has a gift for review, and pretty sure the company would not be OK with that either.

If your girls have outgrown the products, you could pass them along or donate them. I personally won't accept a review unless it is an item we need or would like to have. I can't handle clutter and always have a donate box going, so I definitely don't want my blogging to add to the clutter.

I would imagine your local woman's shelter, crisis pregnancy center, or big brothers/big sisters would love to take some of your clutter off your hands. I don't have your problem, so I can't speak from experience, but I imagine it would feel weird to sell review items, and it doesn't seem like you'd make enough (after putting in the time to list & sell them) to do much. Best wishes!

I don't review stuff that I don't really want. I did have a lot of diapers that I reviewed but don't use anymore since I discovered Applecheeks so I give them to friends that really need the help.

Also I try to watch what I say negatively about products in separate posts, because I would never want a company to see that I don't use the stuff I review and I want to get rid of it, because that new company would decide not to send me anything... just a thought!

Emmy- A LOT of companies have QUIT sending bloggers items to review because of people like you that get their free product and then turn around and sell them. That's just distasteful.
