So why do
Simple, it's cute.
The saving money part is great, yes. But I just love the pretty colors and how I can match Kendall's diaper with whatever she is wearing.
I try to be "green" but do I actually believe all the all the hype of disposables being bad for the planet. Not really.
Do I think it takes 500+ years for a disposable to decompose? No. How is that even proven anyway? Disposables haven't been around for 500 years.
Was I influenced by anyone to start using cloth? Sure, aren't we all in some way? Whether a friend told you about it, you researched it and you were influenced by what you found. Something or someone influences you. Do I use cloth because someone else does? Honestly, that's just dumb. Seriously. Dumb.
Why would I spend my money (Rockin Green, electric bill, water bill, on diapers, disposable inserts, extra washable inserts) and my time on something that I don't want to do? Why would I accept doing 3-4 more loads of laundry a week on just diapers alone, organizing, folding, stuffing. Why would I do all that just because someone else does it?
I cloth because I like to.
This time last year I thought cloth was the most disgusting thing EVER. Was I educated? No. Was I only making that assumption by looking at pictures and just the thought of using cloth? Yep. Then I began using them and I changed my mind.
Isn't it a good thing when you change your mind to a positive decision?
Well apparently when I personally do that it means I am just coping someone.
Well guess what. OH WELL!
I love cloth! <3
When we have more kids next year then they will have cloth on their little butts from day 1 and not because someone else does.
The end :)
**EDIT/ For those who asked. We have about 6-7 different brands in the house. I use Apple Cheeks then Charlie Banana. When those two brands are dirty I usually do laundry and throw Kendall in FuzziBunz while the wash is going. Other brands are good but I prefer Apple Cheeks over anything.
Hubby hates Apple Cheeks but loves Charlie Banana more. /EDIT**

People love to run their mouths & assume things! Loved your post, though! And especially love that you admit you cloth diaper because it's cute. Not every single mama who CDs is just in it because it's the green or money-saving way, and that's perfectly fine! :)
I'm glad you like cloth diapering because I wish I could! I mean, technically I can but I admit I am too lazy. I tried before with my son & it's just easier for me to use disposables. It was too much work for me. I admire people who use cloth diapers! =)
It started as a way to save money for us. Hubby was in college, I dropped out to work as a pizza joint manager and every. single. penny. counted.
But 3 years later, #2 is now here and I'm still doing cloth, despite the fact that we can afford disposables now. And our daughter's extremely sensitive skin doesn't rash up with cloth.
What can I say, I fell in love too. I actually like washing diaper laundry. I relish the thought of hanging clean diapers on the line. I enjoy changing diapers and seeing the fun colors on my girls' bums.
Who cares what someone else is talking. You like cloth, you enjoy CDing. Your motivation isn't anyone else's business.
I have found a lot of people that have bad opinions about cloth. When I first heard about it i though "gross" then I saw how cute cloth was! After using cloth on my son for the last 16 months I have started to think that sposies are gross! LOL
i'm pregnant and I'm unsure if I will use cloth diapers.. it does seem gross, having to wash them.. but I read there are many positives too.. oh well we will see!
Great post!:)
Great post!!! We cloth because I damn well feel like it. That's it hhaha :)
That is too funny. I have a little boy I am starting to potty train (yikes!) and a newborn. I am thinking of making the switch to cloth diapers. Do you have a favorite brand or supplier?
There's no doubt that cloth diapers are the best thing for the environment. Good for you for doing your part to help out!
I started cloth diapering because it's the only things that made my infant's rash go away. NOTHING helped, after 10 different rash creams and going diaper-less I was at the end of my rope! Huge bonus that they are adorable and saved us quite a lot of money :)
mkay, just because we haven't had diapers for 500 years doesn't mean we (science) can't estimate, based on facts, how long it takes to disintegrate. Top it off with the fact that disposables are tied up in yet another plastic bag, then it really does take long.
