"Showing Mommy & Baby" Giveaway Event! - B Nature Review

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 7:51 PM 1 commented
B Nature is a baby/toddler company that offers clothing made from 100% organic cotton! A complete women-operated company ran by mothers and grandmothers who believe that happy and healthy children need comfortable, durable, safe and chemical-free clothing to "b natural". I love that with B Nature you get flat-lock seam finishes, subtle stitching, super soft organic cotton and delicate embroidery. Which means you shouldn't get frayed edges and I found that the more I washed the shirt the softer it got!
The B Nature line is:
  • made from the finest 100% organic cottons
  • produced without the use of harsh pesticides
  • made from organic cotton grown in healthy farming communities
  • sewn under fair labor conditions incorporating living wages, employee housing,  meal plans, and health care.
I had the opportunity to review this beautiful top! I got it in a Ivory because at the time we didn't know that we had a little girl on the way.
Even though it's a neutral color it has so much personality and detail with the rainbow stitching.
Like I mentioned before I threw this in the wash a couple times so I could see if the shirt would shrink and if it would get dingy or anything and neither has ever happened! I've washed it 3-4 times now (again to test the quality out) and it hasn't shrank, the color and stitching still looks the same and the best part is that the shirt is now SOFTER!
I also love that it has extra fabric to flip over baby's hands to keep her from scratching her baby face. I'm not really into the whole mitten thing so I love this feature of the shirt!
B Nature also sells Bodysuits, Rompers, Pants, shoes, hats and gift sets (which are great for baby showers!)

I wish I would have known we were having a little girl sooner because look at these adorable pants:

More awesome features of B Nature are:
* 100% Organic Cotton.
* Available in sizes 6-24 months.
* Pretty rounded color with soft tie at collar for additional flare.
* Designed for maximum comfort and fun.
* Layered look for added flare and style.
* Soft exclusive B nature flat seems.
* Keeps little bodies cool and grooving on warmer days.
* Recycled Paper for all of their boxes!

"Showing Mommy & Baby" Giveaway Event! - Dr. Carey Review & Giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 2:26 PM 97 commented

**CLOSED**

WINNER: Random.org #81 Pixie13!!

Winner has been emailed and has 48hours to respond before a new winner is chosen.
Another huge thank you to Dr. Carey and to all of you who entered! :)

I have been given a wonderful opportunity that I'm so excited I get to pass along to you as well!!
Dr. Carey Chronis is a long-standing board certified pediatrician with a private practice in Ventura, California. Along with his medical history he has written articles and a comprehensive review series.
He is also the father of Claire and because of his deep love for children he made this Baby Care Kit!

Included in his kit:

  • Baby blanket for swaddling
  • A 96-page book on baby care
  • A&D diaper rash ointment
  • GumDrop pacifier
  • Squirt bottle for homemade saline solution (which he tells you how to make!)
  • A digital thermometer
  • Nose suction bulb

Everything you need is in this kit! I mean, seriously, you can never have too many swaddling blankets, right? This one is so soft & is a very nice size. Plus, like I said, there is diaper rash ointment, pacifiers, and a suction bulbs.. again since when can you have too many of any of these?! The book has made for great reading for my husband. He takes is pretty much every where we go so if I'm busy doing something he just opens and picks up where he left off. It helps on our (well... my) shopping trips and he's waiting for me to try on the multitude of clothes in the dressing rooms. lol.

I love that the book comes with pictures so you can be sure you're looking at the right kind of issue. Dr. Carey deals with everything from dirty diapers, the umbilical cord, baby being sick, rashes, developmental stages (like motor skills & baby talk), along with so much more!! So when in doubt just open the book!
The kit comes so nicely package that Dr. Carey suggests to use it as a memorabilia box for your baby gifts and I'm sure we will do that.

I recommend buying this kit because it would make a great gift at a baby shower or even a push present.

"Showing Mommy & Baby" Giveaway Event! - Eco Nuts Review & Giveaway

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 11:58 AM 156 commented

**CLOSED**

WINNER: Random.org #13 Missy!!

Winner has been emailed and has 48hours to respond before a new winner is chosen.
Another huge thank you to Eco Nuts soap nuts and to all of you who entered! :)

I recently came across Eco Nuts soap nuts in my search for more natural eco-friendly laundry soap. I was excited when Mona from Eco Nuts sent me a trial of the nuts! I didn't know what to expect so when I got them, I was skeptical to be honest. It's a dried fruit nut... how can this really work?

Why would you want to choose Eco Nuts soap nuts to clean your clothes?

  • They are completely sustainable, renewable, biodegradable and an organic alternative to chemical detergents and more expensive natural laundry detergents
  • They are gentle and chemical or allergen free. No concerns for sensitive baby skin, or those with eczema or other skin conditions.
  • They are mild and don't leave residue, so they are suitable for washing cloth diapers.
  • They have antimicrobial properties, which makes them a great choice for those with septic or gray water systems.
Wondering how soap nuts actually work? They contain saponin, which is a natural cleaner that breaks the surface tension of the water to penetrate the fibers of your clothing- a fancy way to say that they are able to life stains and leave the dirt in the water to be washed away. They don't foam up, because they don't contain foaming agents. This was disconcerting to me at first, but I decided to get over it and see whether they worked anyways!

I usually only wash my clothes in cold water but for my review I decided to wash in hot a couple times. I've done regular loads, heavy blankets, and towels all successfully. I especially had to put them to the test when my lovely daughter decided to spill spaghetti sauce on a white shirt! I was shocked that even a day later every single bit of the sauce came out even though this was already the 5th wash my soap nuts had been through (and they are generally able to be reused for 5-7 washes).
The clothes always come out smelling clean. Not clean as in like Lavender or Hawaiian Breeze but CLEAN.

Just check out the difference in these towels

Buy it:
You can buy a Regular Size box of  Eco Nuts for $10.00 (+S&H) Or sign up for their Laundry Club and it will automatically be shipped to you monthly!

Win it:

One reader will have the opportunity to win a
Regular Size, which is good for 50 hot, up to 90 cold loads!!)

Goals for April

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 2:17 AM 0 commented
So wow, it's already April and I have no idea how that happened!!
I decided I need to set some goals for myself and TRY to accomplish all of them this month but if that's not possible, at least start on them.
  • Go through Makenna's old clothes and box up the ones that don't fit anymore!! I really have NO idea why 3-4T pants & shirts are in her dressers still, lol.
  • Schedule more mommy & daddy time! We used to go out all the time but now it's been so long since our lives got busier. I miss my hubby ♥
  • Start planning for John's b-day. Seeing how fast this year is going by May 15th seems like it's right around the corner, so I need to start my plans now.
  • Renew our Sea World annual passes. They expired a couple months ago and since it's been so cold I was not going to pay for days/months we were not going. Now it's beginning to be hot again so I should do this ASAP.
  • Go through everything we have in storage. Seriously, if it's at a storage unit then why the hell even have it?! That is beginning to not make sense to me. I OBVIOUSLY don't use the crap everyday so why have a $120 monthly bill if it's not needed. I need to condense this down so what's left can come back here and it can fit in our garage and the garage only!
  • Get a HUGE calender and start organizing my "Showering Mommy & Baby Giveaway Event" reviews better!
  • Get my hair cut and colored. And I don't want to hear it, I've read up on this subject enough to know that coloring your hair is actually NOT dangerous. If you feel it is, ok, that's fine, but from what I've read there is NOTHING wrong with it. So yeah, I need to do something with my hair.. maybe go back to my natural blonde. I am just not liking this brown anymore, I feel weighed down and it's too dark.
So I think that should be it.. unless something random pops up. But at least those are the goals I hope to fulfill! :)
