So rewind 3 months. December 4th I became an official SAHM. Why? Well we were 2 months pregnant and both John and I decided a long time ago that once we were pregnant I would leave my job.
I didn't have a hard job at all. Please, it was probably the easiest jobs I could ever had. I was the store manager for a independently owned GNC. The husband & wife team pretty much made their own rules and because we weren't a "corporate store" we didn't really have any guidelines we had to follow. So seriously, it was awesome to work there.
Of course I had gain knowledge of vitamins, herbs, supplements, sports nutrition, etc (so if you ever have questions... feel free to ask, lol) but hey, who doesn't like a little more education in their life?
So besides that, I just sat around on the stool, cleaned, got online on my G1 phone, and talked on the phone.. well besides helping customers but please, we averaged about 40/day.
Even with the ease of all that, I left GNC. Here's the thing though: I HATE being at home. Hate it! I've always been a little worker bee sorta speak. I really do love working as odd as that may sound. Sure, it can be stressful and I may not get along with everyone I work with, but dammit I love it.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the time I've had at home with Makenna and I want to be there 100% for Kendall too. I absolutely LOVE to cook and I'm such a perfectionist that I always have to clean the kitchen and make sure things are in their place, so being a SAHM is really perfect for me since I can control everything. John does help, he cooks and cleans, so no it's not just me. HE does his fair share so I'm not trying to take any credit away from him what so ever.
I really want a PT job somewhere. Will John let me though? No, lol, and that's the problem. He doesn't want me to work at all. I'm sure any other women would jump on the opportunity but I want to work. Not a lot, maybe just 10-15 hours a week AT MOST. And honestly, I don't even care where it's at really. Well, ok, I take that back but you know what I mean.
*sigh* I don't know what I'm going to do. Probably nothing if I can tell you the truth. I'll just continue what I'm doing for a while I suppose.

I think it's great, and you should do what you want to do. I had the hardest time the first year at home after my first was born because it was just me and an infant in the 4 walls of the house all day, and I craved actually talking to other adults and getting out of the house. Other women have said to me that they thought they'd do the SAHM thing but realized it just wasn't for them.
It completely understandable to want to work part time at least. My husband wants to be able to provide for us when Kylie is born in May, and allow me to stay at home, but I know I couldnt just NOT work at all...us women still need social time outside of the house...and babies, although daycare can be an expensive expense, need to be around other kids to develope their own social skills and make friends. Hopefully you and your husband can come to some arrangement that will allow you to work part time. :o)
Hi. Just wanted to stop by and say I am a new follower from FFF at Mom Bloggers Club. I look forward to reading more of your blog. I know how you feel, I am a SAHM too and want to work as well. I am getting bored being home. Anyways, good luck in everything and have a great weekend!

hey, thought for you... maybe instead of "working" find a way you can help out in the community. If you get involved it isn't work, but it is something you can do, Plus it will make a better community for your family. If ou can involve the kiddos even better, then they learn the benefits of service and work. :) Just a thought! :)
Following you via FFF at MBC. Love your blog and looking forward to following you thru the rest of the pregnancy. Good luck to you!
I quit my job after going back.Mariah was 9 weeks and I just couldnt do it. With the boys I went back to work when they were about 3/4 months and even then it was maybe 6 hours a week for the first couple months. With mariah I was going to be working full time(YUCK). It was just to hard for me..
I hope you guys can come to a agreement that can make you both happy =)
Well my husband is very much so "the women shouldn't need to work. That's what men do" lol. So he likes working and supporting us while I'm at home. Not necessarily to do "women work" but just because the "men should work, not women". It's what his full 100% Italian family believes.
It's going to be 10mths of me being a SAHM after quitting my IT job when my son turned 3mths old then. Yes, kinda boring at first cos it's 24/7 with the baby and 4 walls and all... but as each day goes by, you see your child grows up and learning things you taught him it's satisfying and well worth it. I'm not sure whether (or when) I'd return back to the working world. I don't miss it much other than it being a high paying job... but there's high demands for ppl with my skill so I don't worry much (for now.. hahaha)
Thanks for following my blog from FF. I'm your follower now too! :D Looking forward to reading more great stuff from your blog! :D
Btw, forgot to mention, it's not that boring also because I do help out my hubby's IT business (admin and paperwork side) when my baby takes his nap during day time :D
Hmmm this cracked me up. Not because of what you said but I am a Jennifer married to a John won't let me QUIT my job even though my income isn't needed.
I'm exactly the same way, I enjoy working and love being on the go. I'm planning on working part time when our baby arrives.
My work is PLAY! You can do what I do and I bet your husband won't mind at all. You bring quality toys into your home for your children to play with, and you find other moms who want to do the same. Moms helping moms and their kids! Discovery Toys has been providing this unique opportunity for over 30 years. I began when my son was an infant, and now he's thriving in high school as an outstanding student (could it be because of the great toys????)
Just ask me how to get started by visiting me at
