36 weeks & contractions

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 12:52 PM 6 commented
So I made it... 36 weeks. The past couple weeks have been crazy that's for sure.
I went into the hospital on (Sunday) June 20th because of my crazy right foot being extra swollen. My Dr. wanted to make sure it wasn't a clot or preeclampsia. Both checked out perfectly clear. I got checked just in case and we found out I was 40% effaced, almost 1cm dilated and Kendall was -2 station.
Then that Friday I had some major contractions that we timed for about a hour and they were getting really close at that point then spaced out so we didn't end up going to the hospital.
On Tuesday was my appointment I asked to be checked just to see if the contractions on Friday did anything. After hesitation my Dr. finally checked me and I was 50% effaced, still -2 but now 2cm dilated! Ever since Friday I've been having constant contractions. Some get really close, most are about 10 minutes apart.

Saturday (the 3rd) horrible contractions started around 3pm. Finally at 6pm I called my Dr and she said to head to the hospital because they had been about 4-5minutes apart, and killing me! After being monitored for over an hour my contractions started to finally space out to 9minutes. Since baby was fine, my BP was fine, and the contractions hadn't really changed anything in my progression, I was sent home.

It's been hell every single day since then because the contractions have not stopped and I cannot sleep what so ever.
I'm glad we made it to 36 weeks but it sucks so bad that my body is really trying to get baby K out of her cozy home.
Everyone has been telling me it's because this isn't my 1st baby, so I'm thinning and dilating because of that but that it doesn't necessarily mean she will come sooner. I would love to believe that but because I delivered Makenna so quickly (I was 41 weeks though...) I'm just nervous that it will be any second, any day now.

What has been a little more annoying is that people think I WANT her to come out right now. Of course I dont WISH she would come 4 weeks early and have to stay in the NICU for a couple days. Who actually would wish that upon their newborn!? On the other hand though, I'm allowed to voice my frustration and say that "she needs to come out already!" since these contractions are killing me most of the time. I am going to call my doctor and see if they can stop them because I'm barely able to function 98% of the time. So when I say, 'My Dr. either needs to stop these contractions or get Kendall out already'... again, that doesn't mean I'm voting for her to come out!

Anyway, these next 4 weeks are going to be hard but Kendall needs to stay in her cozy oven, just cookin' away! So hopefully I have 4 more blog posts about my weekly updates to come.

31 weeks

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 12:10 AM 3 commented
Okay I am officially hating pregnancy now! Am I allowed to say that? I literally have not had a full night of sleep in over a week. For starters it takes me about 2 hours just to fall asleep THEN I'm up every single hour tossing & turning. I'm so uncomfortable even when I'm awake. I have to lay down, sit up, lay on my left side, switch to laying on my right side... every couple minutes! The stupid Florida heat and humidity are not helping one single bit either. Ew, it's just nasty and I hate being pregnant during the summer!

With Makenna I didn't have any back pain, Braxton Hick's, or the amount of heavy/uncomfortableness I have with this pregnancy. This might as well be my first pregnancy with all the new things this little girl is already bringing to the table. lol.
So needless to say I have had constant back pain for months now. Braxton Hicks started about a week or so ago. Oh joy, how those are just sooo special. Some said they didn't feel pain but I do. They come & go for sometimes a hour, then go away for a few hours then come back... repeat this process! :) It's just awesome <--- sarcasm!

So week 31 (as of Tuesday)!!! OFFICIALLY 8 months preggo. What is going on?? Well....
Kendall is about 4 pounds right now. If she's anything like her daddy she probably weighs more then that though. She is about 17inches long... although I think she's longer because it feels like she's trying to kick every single organ out of my body! lol. From now until about 2wks before my EDD she should gain about half a pound each week! 'Cause we all know I just want to carry about MORE weight, so I'm just sooo excited about this fact!!! :)
If wives tales mean anything then Kendall will have TONS of hair because the amount of acid reflux/heart burn I have is unbelievable (another thing I didn't have with Makenna)! I cannot get through 1 second of the day without my throat feeling like it's on fire. THANKFULLY my doctor said I can take extra-strength Zantac which has almost saved my life but sometimes that doesn't even help.

What's even more weird is I had a dream a couple nights ago that I had Kendall 3 weeks early. Maybe it's because I am miserable & do want her out early? Who knows, but now I'm freaked out and always thinking, "holy crap... am I in labor?", "what if I go into labor today?!".
I know it's not that realistic but dreams freak me out sometimes.

I've been getting pampered lately which is wonderful! Last week I got a pedicure and today I got a manicure (pink & whites!) and a massage!! It was awesome but now I feel teased and want more pampering! John says more is in store so I guess I have nothing to worry about. I'm hoping a nice facial, nice prenatal massage, maybe another pedicure in a couple weeks, etc! 'Cause hey, I deserve it!

28 weeks

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 1:16 AM 7 commented
So I'm 28 weeks now.. 2 weeks into my 7th month... 2 weeks into our THIRD TRIMESTER! I'm still not over that!

Anything different this week?
Hm... oh you mean BESIDES the constant tossing and turning that Kendall does? BESIDES the fact I can barely wipe my own ass, lol? BESIDES the fact that I CANNOT get comfortable what so ever while sitting or laying? Hmm well if we're talking beside all those points then yeah... not too much has changed, lol.

I've also been experiencing the worst acid reflux/heart burn in my entire life for the past 1-2 weeks. I think I could count on one hand the times I've had heart burn in my whole life up until recently, so believe me... I NEVER get it. My body I guess has always just been really good at taking care of that sorta stuff...? I never burp or even feel the urge, nothing.
Now? Omfg, I cannot stop having to burp and the acid reflux seriously feels like my throat is constantly on fire and it makes me want to cry it's so bad sometimes. :/

On another note Kendall weighs about 2 1/2lbs now and is around 14.8 inches long :) Her little eyes now sport some [gorgeous] lashes and now she should be able to see some light filtering in the womb from the outside! I noticed that she is wayyy out in the front this week. Well, she's always been pretty much a front and center baby but compared to last week I look more... pointy, lol.
This week                                Last week

We have a Dr. appt. on Thursday and since I'm RH negative I'll be getting an injection of Rh immunoglobulin (which is to prevent my body from developing antibodies that could attack the baby's blood). My blood is - and John has + so that's why this injection is needed. I'll also be getting the injection again after I give birth if Kendall ends up being Rh positive.

Shots don't bother me so it's whatever :)

This appointment on Thursday marks the 1st appointment in our 3rd trimester (obviously) and also the start of our every 2 week appointments. Having our appointments getting closer like this just puts it into perspective even more so that we're that much closer to meeting our little girl!

I can't wait till 36 weeks when we have appointments every WEEK, then that'll make it really real!

Oh and 1 other thing that I'm sooo excited for! My step-mom is making me a hospital gown! I really do not want to wear those nasty blue standard ones this time around! God knows who wore them before... peed on them... bleed on them... threw up on them... etcetera! It's just not a great thought when you actually think about it! Here's a pic of the materials... pink and sparkly of course! :)
She has already slowly started working on it. I'm in no rush & I'm sure she appreciates that so she is taking her time on getting it finished. I will definitely post a pic when it's done... or maybe not. Maybe I'll just wait till THE DAY to show everyone how it looks. :)

27 weeks

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 12:00 AM 5 commented
Ah my little cauliflower at around 2 1/2 lbs & 14 1/2 inches! It's just incredible that she is sleeping and waking at regular intervals. What's even more so amazing is that she actually sleeps at night with me. Let's hope this trend continues once she's born!
Supposedly I should be able to feel when she has hiccups sometime around now but that hasn't happened yet. She is moving like CRAZY though & I swear she thinks she's already at the Gymnastic Olympics... or at least she's training for them because she is constantly tossing and turning like she has all the space in the world to do so. It's especially annoying when she stops in the weirdest position so then I have to push her down to get her out of my ribs or what feels like her leg already coming out of the birth canal!

On another note I am officially in my 7th month and 3rd trimester! It seems so weird and surreal & I know I probably say that every week but it still holds true. My pregnancy with Makenna seemed like there was a beginning & end without the middle so I honestly can hardly remember anything. I know for a fact I didn't count every week or keep track of things that happened every week (like this pregnancy) so that's probably why I feel like this pregnancy is going by so slow... but yet so fast! 13 more weeks... TWELVE! 92 more days. It really feels like yesterday I was just saying that I WAS 13 weeks pregnant. January 27th feels like it was no time ago and realistically we're already in May.
We are getting closer to filling our list of stuff that we have ready for Kendall. YAY! Oddly enough we have 3 strollers. All are different though so I'm excited about using each of them. We have a jogging single stroller (the 3 wheeled kind), a double stroller and a light-weight single stroller. We have decorations for her nursery all set up & ready to go up on the walls, & her crib. Next step is getting her car seat. I really wanted a matching set but nothing will go with the 3 strollers we have so now I am changing my plan of attack on the whole car seat thing and just picking 1 we love.

26 Weeks

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 2:46 PM 5 commented
So I missed my 25 week update. Not sure what I was thinking last week. As you may know we switched from the Birthing Center to an OB-GYN that works with one of the hospitals. We are a lot happier now so that's all that matters. It's an OB-GYN that has 3 women; 2 Dr's and 1 midwife, so I'll still get my may with how the labor and birth goes and John feels better that we're in a hospital (and honestly, I'm happier we're in a hospital too..). Other news is that I had to take my gestational diabetes test last week. Already got my results and we passed with flying colors so yay :) Me and baby are great (always knew we would be, hehe).
This week I feel like Kendall popped out more to the front and of course I'm getting bigger by the second :) Looking at my counter (on the right sidebar) I am completely freaked out that it says "about 99 days remaining". 99 DAYS! We're in the double digits now and that's sooooo exciting yet surreal.

As of last week Kendall began to hear us and she should now be able to recognize sounds like Saydie barking or even me yelling, lol. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel! She even opens and closes her eyes and is learning how to blink.

I've been getting more and more tired lately again. Breathing is something I forgot how to do without trying, and John is constantly having to tie my shoes for me already. My back has been hurting the past... week or so and I definitely not excited about that. I didn't experience any back pain with Makenna at all during my pregnancy with her so this is something very new to me.
And lastly... the leg pain! :) I DID experience this with Makenna but really not until mid-late into my 7th month so the pulling of my ligaments this early has been horrible.

--------------------------------------

-How far along? 26 weeks.

-How big is baby? Almost 2 pounds and about 14 inches!

-Weight gain/loss? 134.

-Maternity clothes? Just shirts. Just got a Bella Band because my jeans can't fit anymore. BUT to my defense I ALWAYS wore tight pants in the first place so it's not surprising that I can't wear them now.

-Stretchies? Nothing new!

-Sleep? Same ol'. She is not keeping me up (yet...)

-Best moment this week? Getting more

-Movement? 24/7 :)

-Food cravings? nothing comes to mind. Ask John... lol. I'm sure he can tell you something.

-Gender? GIRL!!

-Labor signs? None.

-Belly button in or out? Still in!! Hopefully it stays that way.

-What I miss? Being able to stand for more then 5 minutes before getting tired. Also, in those 5 minutes not having to pee 1 million times.

-What I am looking forward to? Finishing her nursery.

24 weeks!

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 10:55 PM 4 commented
At 24 weeks Baby Kendall is officially 6 months old (yes I say "old" as if shes already born.. leave me alone, lol) and is considered viable. If she were to be born from this point on, they say she would have a good chance of survival! This week is also important because if I were to go into early labor, the doctors would try to do all they can to stop it. Of course, let's hope she stays in there for at least another 13 weeks until she is full term!

How exciting is it that the baby in my belly could actually stand a chance at living outside of me on her own?? Pretty cool.

Apparently this is what she looks like this week :)
And here's a lovely picture of me:
So I've been buying a lot of clothes but wow, now that we're 6 months along I realize we really should start buying the bigger stuff shouldn't we? lol. We have some of the general stuff down: TWO Diaper bags (for both daddy & me!!),  swaddling blankets, mattress pad, TWO bathtubs, diapers, wipes, health care stuff (shampoo, lotion..), a couple different fitted sheets (that don't match the set we want) for "oops" nights she may have. And I have a few different carriers, breast pump (w/ cream, pads and all that stuff). We could go out and buy the crib and stuff so I really have no idea what we're waiting for but I need to get on John about going to Babies R Us and getting that stuff soon.

At 24 weeks I'm definitely feeling it. I'm not sure why but even with Makenna I always start feeling so dead at this point. I can barely breath, I'm extremely hot 24/7 (and no, it does not help when live in Florida!!!), and now it officially marks when I need new pants. I can zip my pants but pretty much when it comes to buttoning them it's a no go. I have 3 different Hollister pants that can be rolled up to make capris and because of the material and that they were ALWAYS huge on me in the 1st place I can still button them up but definitely not for long time and especially not if I am sitting. I suppose I need to go shopping for pants now :( I don't like that feeling at all lemme tell you.

I really just cannot wait to see my baby girl. Is it really THAT selfish that I want her now?? She is moving SO freaking much that I stare at my belly for hours when I put something on it and she continuously kicks (hits..?) it off. Makenna LOVES feeling her and watching stuff move too. She thinks feels so cool & never gets old to her. I love that she's old enough to actually understand what is going on with me and that Kendall is growing inside mommy's tummy. She tells everyone that, "mommy has to drink lots of water or Kendall will get sick and have to come out too early!!" lol. She goes to my Dr. visits with me so of course last week they reminded me to drink lots of water to avoid pre-term labor and that's what Makenna is referring to.
I just love it and she does always remind me to drink something! Such a great daughter and already looking out for her baby sister! ♥

-Weight gain/loss? 128. Up: 16lbs from pre-pregnancy.

-Maternity clothes? Still have my 1 "NY GIANTS" Motherhood Maternity shirt. I do have some shirts coming in the mail though. And even with my B-Buckle I am beginning to not be able to wear my jeans anymore :(

-Stretchies? Nothing new! At this point that's all I can ask for!

-Sleep? Same ol'. She is not keeping me up (yet...)

-Best moment this week? um. Not sure. Nothing happened in the past week... besides her moving more and more.

-Movement? Oh yeah, the past 2 weeks went from really nothing major to kicking like a soccer player!

-Food cravings? Pretty much any food.

-Gender? GIRL!!

-Labor signs? None.

-Belly button in or out? Still in!! Hopefully it stays that way.

-What I miss? Being able to stand for more then 5 minutes before getting tired. Also, in those 5 minutes not having to pee 1 million times.

-What I am looking forward to? Seeing Kendall!

-Weekly wisdom? Just when you think you're done peeing... sit there longer!

So I have my 23 week appointment tomorrow. How freaking weird. I swear it feels like I was just 8 weeks yesterday. My jeans cannot be buttoned anymore, which is a sad thing. I can still zip them though so yay! Lol.
My regular shirts are a thing of the past and I'm always in tank tops, which hey, it's not hot as hell outside so of course I'd be wearing only tank tops anyways. I do have some cute ass maternity/nursing tops coming in the mail. Hopefully they should come tomorrow by the looks of the UPS tracker!

"SHOWERING MOMMY & BABY EVENT" -- If you haven't noticed, it's well under way!! I'm excited but wow, it is TONS of work for an event, let alone just a few reviews and giveaways. I have well over 100 "sponsors" and would you call me crazy because I STILL browse around and email multiple companies each and every day for more sponsorships? It's like an addiction now, I swear. So head over to the Reviews and Giveaways page and start entering my fabulous giveaways!

After my appointment tomorrow I'm going to be posting maybe 5 more reviews/giveaways so be sure to come back and check them out!

So while I'd love to stay and chat... it's 1am so I must be going to dream land! :)

-Weight gain/loss? I honestly haven't weighed myself since last week so I have no idea if I gained or lost. Maybe I should go do that...
-Maternity clothes? I have 1 shirt but it's not necessary. Hubby just bought it at Motherhood Maternity because it has the NY Giants logo on it so I "had to have it!!" :)
-Stretchies? Nothing new! At this point that's all I can ask for!
-Sleep? Same ol'. She is not keeping me up (yet...)
-Best moment this week? Seeing John's face when he finally felt her kick!

-Weekly wisdom? When you get pregnant, tell your boobs goodbye. They have become even worse this time around. Hubby is loving everything about them but I hate them :/

It feels really weird to say that. It feels like just yesterday I was like, "ooh. I'm only 5 weeks"! Where the hell has time gone, someone please tell me?
In case you missed it in earlier news, we announced last week that bby is a girl and her name will be Kendall Rose!! :) I'm soo excited and loving the name more and more each day. SO FAR it hasn't gotten old or worn out yet. Let's hope it stays that way, shall we!

Time for the quiz:
-How far along? 21 weeks
-How big is baby? The length of a banana. Approx weight=12.4oz, Approx length=7 inches
-Weight gain/loss? I weigh 126 today. Somehow lost 2 lbs within the past week. That's 14 lbs up from pre-pregnancy.
-Maternity clothes? Just now getting into shirt. Still don't need new pants :)
-Stretchies? Not anything new... lol
-Sleep? It's ok. Back is starting to hurt more and more each day though.

-Food cravings? Eh, not really anything major I suppose.
-Gender? GIRL!!!!
-Labor signs? Nope.
-Belly button in or out? In :) It didn't pop out with Kenna so hopefully it stays in this time as well.

Wordless Wednesday?

By Jennifer (Double Duty Mommy) at 2:16 PM 2 commented
So I was trying to write a blog earlier and just sat staring at the computer because I couldn't pick anything to talk about. I left my page and browsed around and came across what apparently is "Wordless Wednesday" and I thought, wow, that's sorta me right now. I really have no words today. How fitting.
Being 18 weeks today I thought I'd just post a questionnaire about my pregnancy thus far. Enjoy.
